Who we are

Our website address is: https://captainplanent.com.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. If you check the box to opt-in for Gravatar, after approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. Gravatar avatars are cached on the web server.

When visitors leave comments on the site or use the contact forms, these submissions are filtered using Akismet spam filter. The submitted information, along with the visitor’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL, will be transmitted to Akismet. The Akismet spam filter privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.

Contact Form/Mailing List

When you sign up for our mailing list, your email is transmitted and stored using Kit. We use Kit for our email updates. We do not share your email with other entities. We will not sell your email or data. Kit’s privacy policy is available here: https://kit.com/privacy

When you use the “Contact Me” form, your submission is filtered using Akismet spam filter. The Akismet spam filter privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. If you use the contact form on our site, you will be opting in for us to save your name, email address and other relevant information.

When a user submits an unsubscribe request, Kit changes their status to unsubscribed in the database. Users can request their email address be removed from the database using this form: https://captainplanent.com/data-removal-request/.

Submissions to the “Contact Me” and data removal request form are processed through SMTP2GO. SMTP2GO deletes message bodies after the email is delivered. Occasionally, SMTP2GO will save messages for up to 35 days so the messages can be reviewed for terms of service violations. All email headers are saved for 35 days. SMTP2GO’s privacy policy is available here: https://www.smtp2go.com/privacy/
